Rabbi Berl Zweibel claims that his civil rights were infringed upon at the Broward County Jail when he was compelled to remove his yarmulke, a religious head covering. “Each person is entitled to their religious freedom,” stated Zweibel’s attorney, Michael Citron.
“This does not just apply to Jewish males,” Citron continued. “This applies to anyone, whether they are wearing a hijab, a turban, or a keffiyeh.”
“When you are behind bars, you are not without rights, especially when it comes to your faith,” Citron emphasized.
